If you’re loving your iPad by now, then you’re going to love getting organized by one of my favourite apps, Things. For those who read our sister site, iPhoneinCanada.ca then you might have read our review of Things for the iPhone. When used in conjunction with Things for Mac, it’s an incredibly easy way to get organized.
Things for iPad: Helping You Get Things Done
Things for iPad looks amazing. The design and layout is exactly the same as the iPhone and Mac versions. For people who are looking for a task management app, Things makes it very simple and easy to use.
There are two different views for Things on the iPad. In landscape, the two column view shows the clean layout. On the left, you’ll see the Inbox, Today, Next, Scheduled, Someday, Projects and Logbook. Rotate the iPad to portrait and the “list view” only appears. Under Projects, you can “peek” into individual projects just like you do with folders in the iPad’s Photo app. Very cool.
Creating a list is as simple as tapping the “+” icon in the top right hand corner. You can add tags, notes, and due dates to your list. Everything is very simple and easy to use.
When you’ve completed tasks you can just tap and add a checkmark to show that it has been completed. Creating projects to manage is also very straightforward. That’s the beauty of Things–the team at Cultured Code has made the software intuitive and easy to use. You won’t need an instruction manual on how to navigate and use the program. It’s just so simple.
Things for iPad is an Investment–But It Will Pay For Itself
Things for iPad will also sync to Things for Mac over WiFi. It’s too bad there isn’t MobileMe or 3rd party server support yet. Also, Things for Mac is a $59US investment. Add in the cost of Things for iPad $20 and you’re looking at $80 for software for your Mac and iPad. Also, some might prefer a more powerful GTD app like OmniFocus–but it’s not out for the iPad yet.
Is it worth it? Well, it is if you actually use the app and get things done. Staying organized with our busy lives can be difficult. But with Things on the iPad, it makes keeping track of lists and projects fun.
What I love about Things is its simplicity and ease of use. Making a To Do list and keeping track of projects has never been easier. The interface is beautiful and app performs flawlessly on the iPad. It’s a must-have app if you want to keep yourself organized for whatever work you need to get done.
