Sportsnet Ontario Has Arrived to the Rogers Live TV iPad App

by on May 16th, 2012

Rogers has announced today the inclusion of Sportsnet Ontario to their Rogers Live TV iPad app, to enable customers to stream the same broadcast from your television to their iPad over WiFi, as announced on the Redboard:

With Sportsnet Ontario on Rogers Live TV, you get the same broadcast feed on your TV and on your tablet.

As a refresher, here are the details:

  • Rogers Digital TV and Hi-Speed Internet customers in Ontario can live stream TV content directly to their tablets for free, anywhere in their home over Wi-Fi.
  • Available for iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 users.
  • Download the app from iTunes or the Google Play and log in using your My Rogers profile.
  • 24 channels and growing, including: Citytv, CityNews Channel, OMNI Television, Global, CBC News Network, YTV, Treehouse, CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox.

This service is only available for existing Rogers customers–just login with your My Rogers profile. The minimum requirements for this service are:

-Available in Ontario only for existing Rogers customers with a My Rogers profile who subscribe to Hi-Speed Internet (Lite tier and above) and Rogers Digital TV (excluding Digital TV Starter Pack)
-Must have one of the following digital set top boxes: 8642 HDPVR, 4642 HD, 8300 HD PVR and 4250 HD
-Your Hi-Speed Internet and Rogers Digital TV must appear on the same bill, and must be associated to your My Rogers profile
-Service is only available within your home through your WiFi connection

Data usage will be applied towards your Rogers Hi-Speed Internet monthly usage allowance. One hour of viewing, at the Standard Rate, uses up to 600MB.

You can download the Rogers Live TV app for iPad here–it’s free. Average reviews in iTunes note the app is at 2.5/5 stars, and is destined for an update. Some users have experienced ‘no sound’ and also desire HD channels, and a Retina Display update.

Let us know how it goes, having live streaming sports on your iPad is probably the best thing next to sliced bread.

It’s retarded that you need to be a high speed internet customer too, like subscribing to the cable service isn’t enough.  FUCK YOU ROGERS!

Rogers Live TV – another ‘free’ Rogers service scam.

You must be a Rogers Digital subscriber with at least one of their boxes and you must access this app service thru your home wi-fi, which will deduct the streaming from your internet cap.

I’ll rely on networks with their own app, which don’t require a pricey Rogers cable subscription – and while they too affect your cap when streaming via your home wi-fi, they aren’t tied to just your home network.

This’ll mean I won’t be watching Rogers-owned sports networks, but no great loss.
