Lost Your Dice? Newton’s Dice HD Is Here To Help

by on September 18th, 2011

I am a huge fan of ‘limitless’ applications. Apps that are useful in many, many situations. IsoCards reproduced a deck of cards and I fell in love with it. I believe Newton’s Dice HD may have done the same with dice.

Created by developer Mark Hessburg, Newton’s Dice HD is a 3D dice simulator that does its job quite well. I wanted to put the app to the test so I played a couple of rounds of Liar’s Dice and Yahtzee and to my surprise I didn’t have much trouble swapping the conventional dice for Newton’s Dice. With the customization the app has, setting up for either game was relatively painless.

I can’t count how many times I’ve wanted to play Risk, Monopoly, or any other dice-related games and haven’t had any dice on hand (admit it, you know there’s just as many dice gremlins as there are sock gremlins). Having an app act in place of those missing dice is a real problem solver and I appreciate it’s convenience.

I’m not going to go as far as to say this is the ‘best’ dice simulator on the App Store, because I haven’t played all of them, but what I can say is that it is definitely a contender.

It has customization, smooth 3D graphics, and even a few built in games to play when everyone has left the building. Whether the $1.99 price tag is worth it to you depends on how many dice games you play and how often you find yourself searching for them. Either way, it’s a good app, worth checking out.
