iWork and iBooks for iPad Now Live in Canadian App Store

by on May 25th, 2010

Still waiting for your iPad to arrive this Friday huh? Well, while you’re waiting you might as well start downloading the iWork suite for iPad and iBooks, as they are now live in the Canadian App Store. I would assume that International App Stores have already gone live too.

iWork is a collective of Apple’s three main productivity apps that include: Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. iBooks is the ebook reader on the iPad and the neat thing is it comes with a free copy of Winnie the Pooh to start you off!

I’ve downloaded Pages on my iPad and it’s pretty awesome to use. Very simple and easy to use for creating documents on the go. So what are you waiting for? Get downloading!

Thanks to @Simplydotca for the heads up!

Ok, so I am now ready. Come on, iPad! I have everything . . . . though, I am wondering when my accessories (case, camera connector kit) will ship.

When I try to download iBooks – I am getting an error message – “unknown” error. I have shut down and restarted my iPad but still no luck. Anyone else having this problem? I have downloaded “Keynote” and that is working like a charm. Cheers.

  • pages workes really well on the ipad! But the itunes download page was acting up last night and this morning. I only managaed to get part of the suite.

it was also red instead of grey? go figure.

Same problem with iBooks. I get an error message and it won't download. Guess I'll have to wait a couple more days.

theres an error in the purchasing process.. just download it to your itunes store on your computer.. then try it again.

also.. the iBook store isn't live yet… it just has the free stuff.

Yep I can't download iBooks on the Pad yet.
Does anyone have issues with activating the amazon kindle reader? I can't get it to work. It says that the device is already registered by another user (amazon customer service is baffled as well). I got my pad used from the US.

  • Great to see the iWorks apps on the iPad. I purchased all three earlier today and am looking forward to putting them through their paces.

I have had the iBooks app for weeks – I originally downloaded it from the US app store. So far the Canadian store only has free books. I assume (hope) paid versions are going to be in place before Friday's launch. In the meantime there's a wealth of classics to pour through.

Pages does look great and I downloaded it when I saw it available. THe downside is that Pages doesn't leverage the functionality of working on the cloud. We shouldn't have to go through iTunes to transfer files. I'm looking forward to QuickOffice and DocumentsToGo releasing their iPad versions in the coming weeks — then we can transfer files using DropBox or other services. I know it's wishful thinking but I wish Apple would open up a bit beyond iTunes and MobileMe to make accessing and transferring data easier.

Have you been able to download ibooks successfully? keeps erroring out for me…

  • It downloaded fine for me, using iTunes on my Mac.

I was able to get iBooks via iTunes. But where's my Winnie the Pooh ???

I only see the classics on the iBook application — and it's launch day for the iPad. Any others seeing the same?
