AirPlay Apps Receive New App Store Section

by on March 14th, 2011

One of the major new features of iOS 4 was AirPlay, a feature that enabled users to wirelessly stream photos, video, and music from an iDevice to a television via an Apple TV.

With iOS 4.3, Apple enhanced AirPlay, enabling users to stream video from the Photos.app, websites from Safari, and AirPlay-enabled apps. To make things even easier to use, Apple has introduced a new App Store section highlighting various AirPlay-enabled apps.

The new section is labeled “Great AirPlay-Enabled Apps” and lists third-party apps that support AirPlay media streaming. The apps included are such titles as Air Video, VEVO, Discovery Channel HD, ESPN Magazine for iPad, and more.

The section is small now, but will grow. Check it out!

Is Safari supposed to support AirPlay?

When I try to send a video (ie. Apple Movie Trailers) to the AppleTV, only audio plays on the TV.

The sites have to be coded to enable airplay, based on what i’ve been reading.
