Agile Messenger Now Available On iPad + Giveaway

by on January 25th, 2011

Agile Messenger has been available for iPhone and iPod touch for almost two years now. While the app was not available at the launch of the iPad, AgileMobile.com has now officially released the app for iPad.

At this point in the game, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of instant messaging apps available on the App Store. At the bare minimum, Agile is your typical instant messaging application.

However, unlike some IM clients, Agile delivers a very clear user interface and makes everything easy to use. The app further includes a built-in web browser and fully customizable user interface that allows users to change the wallpaper, colors, font size, and message sounds.

Agile Messenger for iPad also comes in two versions; a free version and a “Pro” version. But this is where things get a little weird. The Pro version has everything you would need in an IM client, costing $2.99. The free version however prompts users to pay, via in-app purchase, for access to additional IM client networks outside of Facebook.

In other words, with the free version, users can connect to Facebook for IM chat, but if you want to connect to MSN, ICQ, AOL, Yahoo, or GoogleTalk, you need to pay.

While I understand the app needs to make revenue, there are other alternative IM clients available that are free and provide access to many IM client networks. But then again, if you like the look of Agile and maybe only need access to one or two IM networks, Agile may provide a good value.

In addition to instant messaging, Agile Messenger HD (free and paid) features full Facebook support, enabling users to update their status, post to walls, post comments, view news feed and receive instant Facebook notifications.

If you’re looking for an IM client that gives you full access to Facebook and you do not use other IM networks, check out Agile Messenger HD Lite.

If you need a fully-featured IM client, and you like what Agile offers, check out Agile Messenger HD Pro in the App Store for $2.99.

One More Thing

If you want a free copy of Agile Messenger HD Pro, I will randomly drop three promo codes into the comments throughout the day (along with hints of when). So check back often.
