Mercedez-Benz Canada Announces iPad Docking Station Plus for Rear Compartment

by on August 16th, 2012

Mercedez-Benz Canada has announced a new entertainment add-on for your car–the ability to have an iPad docking station in the back of headrests. This option of course would make any road trip easier for the kids, right? If you have an iPad then this is one add-on you should definitely order:

Apple iPad® Docking Station Plus for rear compartment

  • Entertainment plus safety – iPad can be slotted into place and removed simply, safe permanent docking station behind the head restraints
  • Go online during the journey – can be networked with internet solutions, e.g. Mercedes-Benz InCar Hotspot
  • Always ready for action – charging function via USB cable, plus openings
  • for on/off buttons and headphone connections
  • Flexible – iPad Docking Station Plus for the rear compartment
  • tilts and swivels

Existing Mercedes-Benz owners can already opt for iPod interface kits (in the glove box) that allow the use of controls on the steering wheel to navigate the music from your iPhone/iPod in the cluster display.

If you haven’t downloaded the free Mercedes-Benz.tv app, you should do so as it enables fans to watch the latest videos and trailers. Select Mercedes-Benz dealers have already deployed iPads to assist with sales and other transactions.

What do you think of this new option?

Thanks Darryn!

Ah, but does it have the (rumoured) new dock connector?

Good point. An adapter for the new dock connector would be essential here.

Yup.. only weeks away from being obsolete haha.

I must ponder this. Our newest, custom-built Benz is 4-1/2 months old and is hopelessly obsolete by your standards. It has CD, satellite, SD, iPod connections, and does indeed play DVDs, so we have not suffered yet, being as we have these media at our disposal. Not to mention, we mostly use our vehicles to get from point A to point B, not to sit in and watch movies or whatever. Our other Benz is many years older and you would obviously scoff at it, so I will not mention its age.

How old and obsolete is YOUR Benz, Mr Higgs, Steve?
