Have you ever been in a hurry to charge your iPad or maybe when you first plugged your iPad into your computer it didn’t show that it was charging? The manufacturer MSI has just released a utility for its Windows based computers that will charge the iPad more efficiently.
The iPad has very special charging requirements as it prefers a 1.2A power supply rather than the 0.5., which is currently the default with conventional USB interfaces. While the iPad will charge over a regular, half-an-amp power feed, it prefers the higher rating. The MSI i-Charger is a Windows resident program capable of revising power supply mode of your USB port. After installing the i-Charger software, when an iPad is connected to the USB port the i-Charger sends a signal to initiate its charging circuit. In addition, the app also allows for charging of the iPhone and iPod.
I think that manufacturers are anticipating how successful the iPad will be and are already discovering innovative ways to try and beat their competition. This just heightens the excitement of what iPad “add ons” are yet to come!
Even though I don’t have my iPad yet, I still downloaded and installed the i-Charger software. Unfortunately my motherboard is not compatible (I already new that but figured I’d give it a try anyway). If anyone out there can try out the i-Charger please let us know what you think!
You can read more about the technical requirements and download the i-Charger software here at MSI.
