Grab & Grip Your iPad With The Padlette

by on December 27th, 2010

I’ve been looking at a new iPad accessory called the “Padlette” and it definitely is a unique one. What is it you ask? The Padlette is a stretchy silicone that wraps around the back of your iPad with the goal of providing users an easier way to grip their device. In other words, a handle for your iPad.

The Padlette By One Hand Clapping Ltd.

The Padlette stretches from corner to opposite corner of the iPad and provides users with a scratch-free diagonal silicone handle to hold their iPad. Once stretched, there is no right or wrong way to put your hand through the Padlette band. However, the Padlette seems to solve a problem that I never knew I had.

Purposes aside, I can confidently say that using the Padlette does make holding the iPad slightly easier. Normally one hand would grip an iPad edge (eventually becoming fatigued) while the other hand is using the device. With the Padlette, your hand rests comfortably on the back of the iPad.

One thing is for sure and that is with the Padlette, my iPad feels more secure in my hand, as the chance of the iPad falling is about zero. However, I cannot see myself actively using the accessory on a daily basis since it looks so odd stretched across the iPad. Plus, I use the Apple iPad case throughout the majority of the day.

As far as iPad cases go, I cannot see the Padlette being used in conjunction with the official Apple iPad case or any other case. While it is possible to use the Padlette with a case, users would get the same level of functionality but lose a lot of the form that a slim iPad case provides.

The Padlette costs $25.00USD and is available in seven different colors:

  • Black
  • Green
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Pink
  • Gray
  • Blue (Limited Edition Glow-In-The-Dark)

The iPad accessory works exactly as promised and provides a secure and comfortable method of holding your iPad. The only minor issue I found was that once the Padlette is stretched, depending on which way it is stretched across the iPad, the Padlette can cover a bit of the iPad speaker or volume rocker.

If the Padlette seems right for you or a friend, check it out at the Padlette Online Store via Amazon Checkout.
