Radiant Opto-Electronics, a Taiwan based component manufacturer, is expected to supply over 2 million backlight units (BLUs) for Apple’s forthcoming 7.85-inch ‘iPad Mini’ during the month of October with another two million units shipping next month, according to DigiTimes‘ industry sources.

While we await the official confirmation of iPad Mini launch event from Apple, all sorts of rumours and reports continue to pour in regarding the upcoming device as well as the media event itself. A couple of new photos, courtesy of MacRumors, have now hit the web which are claimed to be of the battery for 7.85″ iPad Mini, which Apple plans to unveil at the forthcoming event.
Apple is set to unveil its smaller iPad a.k.a the iPad Mini on October 23rd at an invite-only media event. A report published by The Next Web today is claiming that this iPad Mini launch event will have a heavy focus on iBooks because the device will be targeting smaller tablets like the Kindle Fire, that are generally used to consume content including books and movies.

According to a report by Fortune from last week, Apple was expected to send out invitations to the media today, regarding a special ‘iPad Mini’ launch event rumored to take place on Oct. 17th. According to a new report by Japanese blog Macotakara, a large OEM mobile accessory maker has stopped production of ‘iPad Mini’ cases after noticing that newly leaked parts and mockups of the purported device show last-minute design changes. The source hasn’t named the accessory maker though.
